Poles have demanded that the border be closed to Ukrainian strawberries

After Ukraine stopped importing grain, Poland is preparing to ban imports of Ukrainian strawberries. This was reported by the local newspaper sad24. The Polish Fruit Producers Association has demanded that imports of industrial strawberries from Ukraine be limited and then stopped altogether.

The farmers sent a letter to the Agriculture Ministry, noting that the supply of strawberries from Ukraine may have a negative impact on the local berry market and lead to a significant drop in prices. In addition, the association called for the introduction of control of each berry batch entering the country and not to allow trade until the results of the expert examination are available.

The association said the other day that it sees the first signs of pressure on prices of industrial garden strawberries from Ukraine and also fears a similar situation with table berries.

We shall remind you that the European Commission extended until 15 September a ban on grain imports from Ukraine to neighbouring EU countries Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria.
