Britain’s Armed Forces intends to scrap “too male” military positions – The Times

The British army is considering getting rid of the names of “too male” military positions. The Times has reported this, citing Chief of General Staff General Patrick Sandres.

“The Army is considering replacing the names of centuries-old positions, such as rifleman and guard, with gender-neutral terms, as the former are too masculine,” the publication said.

Sanders said the move was prompted by an appeal from female service personnel who felt “excluded” by the use of male job titles.

Meanwhile, women serving in the British army opposed the initiative.

“Don’t you dare take away my position as a gunner, I’m proud of it,” said one of them.

Another British serviceman reacted to the initiative to create a more inclusive army by calling the idea “culture war nonsense”.
