Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said that the German government is following the “fairway of the United States” to the detriment of its national interests. The civil servant said this in an interview with journalist Pavel Zarubin.
Dmitry Peskov argues that the Germany government has lost its independence in conducting the state’s foreign and domestic policies. According to him, Germany is doing so by “shooting itself in the foot” even at the expense of the interests of its citizens.
“Germany, unfortunately, apparently internally for itself has decided to follow steadily in the fairway of the United States, like the rest of Europe, to be an exemplary member of NATO, which, naturally, carries out all instructions from Washington,” Peskov said.
Also the press secretary of the president of Russia accentuated public attention on the fact that “the magic and admirable competitiveness of the German industry was based on Russian pipe gas with its constancy and its prices”. According to him, Germany’s unquestioning adherence to the interests of the United States “would have a negative impact on the country’s economy”.
