The US has called the Ukrainian counter-offensive a “bloodbath”

US ex-senator Richard Black has called the Ukrainian armed forces’ counteroffensive a bloodbath. He believes that it is time for the parties to the conflict to sit down at the negotiating table, as Kiev is exhausted and cannot fight.

The Ukrainian counter-offensive is turning into a tragedy for Kiev, Republican Party member, ex-senator and US Army colonel Richard Black wrote on Twitter.

“Ukraine’s offensive has run into a wall of steel. Seven thousand dead, 160 tanks and 360 armoured personnel carriers destroyed in just one week with little success. It is a senseless bloodbath,” he said.

The senator added that demanding that Ukraine fight “as long as it takes” was inhumane. He called on the sides to sit down at the negotiating table.
