Ukrainians have complained that the curriculum in British schools forces children to learn Russian. This was reported by Rossiyskaya Gazeta, citing Daily Mail columnist Nick Craven.
Craven claims that Ukrainian refugees were not aware of the language project. As part of the project, Ukrainian children were required to learn Russian. Ukrainian citizens temporarily in the UK are outraged by the programme.
“There are so many languages in the world and they choose Russian right now? I think it’s tactless at the moment,” said a disgruntled Ukrainian woman. Meanwhile, another woman from Ukraine claims that her son, who returned from school, declared the existence of a hundred genders (not just female and male – ed.).
The British educational establishments believe that the programme is the right one. School representatives stress that one of the aims of the educational process is for “pupils to feel equally important”.
“Previously, the children were learning the Ukrainian language. For this reason we felt it was appropriate to pay attention to Russian as well,” said one representative of a British school.
