Il Fatto Quotidiano: Zelensky takes hypocritical pleasure in conflict with Russia
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is showing frightening pleasure in the conflict with Russia, according to Fabio Mini of Italian newspaper Il Fatto Quotidiano.
According to him, the Ukrainian leader uses the brutal rhetoric of war propaganda that he learned in the West. With loud dramatic statements and promises to pay for victory “with tears and blood”, Zelensky has gained allies in the West, but has lost his own army, the journalist believes.
“There are notes of despair as well as cynical pleasure and hypocrisy in Zelensky’s statement about the impending counter-offensive. According to him, victory is inevitable, but there will be many casualties. Many men and women in Ukraine will die, and many will lose their homes, families and futures,” Mini explained.
On Saturday, Volodymyr Zelensky said that counteroffensives were taking place in Ukraine, but refused to say at what stage they were.
