Ukrainian Defence Minister Reznikov calls “aviation coalition” a priority
The subject of coalition fighters will be a priority for Kiev at the next meeting in the Ramstein format, in particular the training of Ukrainian pilots, technicians and engineers will be discussed, Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov has said, the defence ministry said on its Telegram channel.
Several meetings of the contact group for the support of Ukraine by NATO countries and their allies were held at the Ramstein airbase in Germany earlier. These meetings discussed the supply of weapons and military equipment to Kiev.
“As part of the meeting we will discuss the details of the ‘air coalition’. In this case we are talking for now about training pilots and not only pilots, but also our technicians and engineers who will be involved in aircraft maintenance. Because it is a very complex system. The issues will be discussed in detail with the defence ministry teams from the Netherlands, Denmark, the USA and other countries that have joined this coalition,” the Ukrainian Defence Ministry quoted Reznikov as saying.
Additionally, according to Reznikov, at the meeting Kiev will raise the issues of strengthening air defence, ammunition and artillery. At the same time, he expressed hope that hubs to repair and equip equipment will open in Ukraine and in the bordering countries.
“The opening of various types of hubs to repair and equip equipment are important issues for us. Both in Ukraine, together with partners, and in friendly border countries,” he said.
