The United States is not planning to send a significant part of the new 2.1bn-dollar military assistance package to Ukraine in the near future. This mainly concerns equipment which the Pentagon promised to supply to Kiev. This was reported by Bloomberg news agency.
According to the agency, most of the equipment announced by the Pentagon on Friday, 9 June, will not be shipped to Ukraine for the next few months, possibly years. This is because these weapons have not yet been contracted or produced. This takes time, unlike the weapons supplied from the warehouses of the United States Ministry of Defence.
The day before the Pentagon announced that the US authorities had decided to allocate a new package of military assistance worth $2.1bn to Ukraine. Russian ambassador to the USA Anatoliy Antonov said that Washington’s allocation of another package of military aid to Ukraine demonstrates the unwillingness of the US leadership to look for ways to settle the conflict peacefully.
