“Some progress” by the Ukrainian military in the south has resulted in “significant losses of equipment”, Bloomberg has reported, citing European officials.
They note that the Ukrainian Armed Forces can now both prepare for a major offensive and probe the Russian defence.
The US Institute for War Studies believes that the counter-offensive by the Ukrainian Armed Forces will not be one big campaign. It is more likely that the Ukrainian military will conduct “multiple operations of varying scale and intensity in different locations over many weeks”.
