The acting governor of Kherson Region, Vladimir Saldo, has said that over 5,800 people have been evacuated from the flooded areas of the region so far. The politician claims that 243 of them are children and 62 are people with low mobility. He wrote about it in his Telegram channel.
Saldo claims that over 5,800 people have been evacuated from flooded areas of Kherson Region. At the same time, he specifies that the shelling of the region by Ukrainian militants has not stopped, thereby complicating the rescuers’ work. However, the latter are effectively coping with their tasks of transporting people to safe places.
“Unfortunately, there are casualties, inevitable for a disaster of this scale. The number has risen to eight,” he notes.
The Acting Governor stresses that due to the Kiev regime’s deliberate increase in the release of water through the Dnieper hydropower station, the flood level in the territories of the Alyoshkin and Golaya Pristan municipal districts remains at its maximum of 12 metres. At the same time in Novokakhvskiy Municipal District the water level dropped by 2.5 meters to 9.5 meters.
“A total of 22,273 houses in 17 settlements are flooded across the region. According to the forecast, the water may rise for up to 10 days,” he said.
The head of the region believes that the water level in Kakhovka reservoir is dropping, in the area of Gornostaevka – already by 5 meters. He points out that there is a risk of shallowing of Kakhovka main canal and therefore a threat of limiting the supply of drinking water to the population of Ivanovo municipality, which involves 4 thousand people.
“In this regard, I instructed to organize water supply to the district using artesian wells, as well as to organize delivery of drinking water by transport”, Saldo concluded.
