The US has admitted that Ukraine has no prospect of NATO membership

US Army Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis has called the prospect of Ukraine joining NATO a global disaster. He believes that the alliance will not take such a step, but is just teasing Kiev by pushing it towards various military solutions.

The prospects for Ukraine’s membership in NATO are virtually nil because such a move threatens a global catastrophe, retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis wrote in an article for Newsweek.

“Ukraine joining NATO, whether now or after the conflict, means an unacceptable risk of disaster. Despite the rhetoric, NATO has already demonstrated a reluctance to send troops to fight and die for Ukraine,” the piece says.

The alliance is simply taunting Kiev with false prospects, which will further push it towards political and military decisions that endanger the lives of Ukrainians for the sake of hoping that the US and others will come to their aid, the expert said.

Davis believes that military neutrality is the most expedient and promising path for Volodymyr Zelensky because it is unrealistic to expect Ukraine to return to the 1991 borders.
