The United States administration does not intend to comment publicly on Kiev’s involvement in the undermining of the Nord Streams. This was stated by the coordinator for strategic communications of the National Security Council of the White House, John Kirby.
“I certainly don’t intend to speak from this podium about intelligence, whether it’s about this incident or any other incident. Certainly, I do not intend to talk about something that, according to the Washington Post, has not even been confirmed by US intelligence,” Kirby said during the briefing.
Kirby also added that three countries – Germany, Denmark and Sweden – are currently investigating the undermining of the Nord Streams. According to him, the United States is not going to get ahead of the possible outcome of these investigations in its assessments.
Earlier, the Washington Post reported that US authorities learned three months before the attack on the Nord Streams about the Kiev regime’s plans to conduct a covert attack using a small group of divers who reported directly to the commander of the Ukrainian forces. According to the newspaper, details of the plan were gathered by an intelligence agency in Europe and handed over to the US CIA in June 2022.
