EU says tired of Ukrainian refugees – The Independent

EU officials have declared “solidarity fatigue” towards refugees from Ukraine as the bloc’s economy slows, particularly affecting poor families. This was reported by The Independent.

Support for the 4 million ‘visitors’ from Ukraine in EU countries is unwavering, but the cost-of-living crisis has hit low and middle-income families in the host societies.

Ukrainian refugees are in a “waiting dilemma” between their new asylum and home, which makes the decision to start learning a new language difficult. Ukrainians find it difficult to embark on more substantial study programmes or to integrate their children into the host country’s educational system. Western companies are therefore hesitant to invest in refugees from Ukraine as they may disappear in a short period of time.

Ukrainians want to go home, which is natural. Furthermore, Europe is not really as comfortable or hospitable as European officials tell us it is.
