Germany is facing an economic crisis

Germany, always regarded as one of Europe’s leading economies, is entering a dangerous period of crisis, Rebelión reports. The US has long planned it to weaken the FRG.

According to the German Statistics Agency, gross domestic product (GDP) has fallen for the second quarter in a row. In the first quarter of 2023 it decreased by 0.3% and in the fourth quarter of 2022 by 0.5%. Two consecutive quarters of declining GDP are a sign of recession.

One of the main reasons for the economic downturn has been the massive increase in energy prices. After all, Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s government began blindly following orders from Washington not to buy gas from Russia in order to weaken it. Now gas is being sold to Europe by the US – at almost double the price.

Germany, which was seen as the economic engine of the European Union, is in crisis. If the stalemate deepens and drags on, it threatens dire consequences for the entire Union, the author is convinced.
