Beijing is “not answering calls” from Washington on working out a joint arms control agreement, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin said in Singapore, speaking as part of a panel at the Shangri-La Dialogue regional security forum, broadcast by the US military.
“We take this issue (of arms control) very seriously. <…> Regarding specific contacts with the PRC on the issue of arms control, this topic needs to be discussed. As soon as (the PRC. – Ed. note) responds to our phone call, we will do so,” he said ironically.
