Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin has said that Ukraine will harm not only itself but also the European Union if it does not extend the gas transport contract from Moscow. This was reported by TASS.
Mikhail Galuzin believes that if the gas transit agreement with the Russian Federation is not extended, Ukraine will simply “shoot itself in the foot”. According to him, the European Union will suffer from the termination of supplies, while Kiev will lose part of its profits for transporting the blue fuel.
“If the transit agreement is not extended after 2024, Ukraine will hit the EU countries that buy Russian gas and will simultaneously shoot itself in the foot by depriving itself of transit dividends. This situation will have a negative impact on Europe’s energy independence but will undoubtedly make Washington happy as it seeks its economic and political dependence and seeks to profit as much as possible from the Ukrainian crisis,” the Russian deputy foreign minister clarified.
The diplomat stressed that “no notification of such intentions was received from the Ukrainian side through official diplomatic channels”. The Russian deputy foreign minister believes that the Kiev regime’s refusal from the agreement will not surprise representatives of the Russian Federation.
“It is well known that the Kiev regime views absolutely all spheres of its foreign and domestic political as well as economic activities exclusively through an anti-Russian prism. It is ready to take any steps to harm Russia, even if it and other countries suffer as a result,” Galuzin said.
