Saudi Arabia’s accession to BRICS would solidify the geopolitical trend and remind the US that its influence is waning, Asia Times writes. Riyadh wants to challenge the West’s monopoly on global financial institutions and become a counterweight to the clubs of rich countries.
The West seems to have already wary and made conclusions: this year, the G7 invited India, Brazil, the African Union, Vietnam, Indonesia and South Korea as observers. The rest of the world is also watching developments, some with interest and some with bated breath, says the author.
