Russian ambassador: BAE Systems UK offices in Ukraine to become legitimate targets for strikes

The British offices of weapons company BAE Systems will become legitimate targets for Russian military strikes if located in Ukraine, Russia’s ambassador to Britain, Andrey Kelin, said on the Russia 24 TV channel.

“Such Western equipment manufacturing facilities, even if it ever happens, will become our legitimate targets for strikes, still apparently in the early stages,” TASS quoted him as saying.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had earlier held talks with Charles Woodburn, executive director of major British military-industrial company BAE Systems.

They discussed the establishment of facilities in Ukraine for the production and repair of the company’s products.

It was reported that the German concern Rheinmetall, together with Ukroboronprom, will set up a tank repair and production facility in Ukraine.

The deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitriy Medvedev, said that if the plant is built, Russian forces will mark the event with “fireworks from Kalibras and other pyrotechnic devices”.
