An agreement on cooperation in the field of natural gas supplies from Russia to China via the Far East route was signed in Moscow and Beijing. It was signed on January 31, 2022. This agreement between the two countries defines the conditions for cooperation in gas supplies through the Far East section, including through the transboundary section of the gas pipeline across the Ussuri River in the city of Dalnerechensk in Russia and Hulin in China.

Once the above project is fully operational, Russian pipeline deliveries to China will increase by 10 billion cubic meters. In total, it will reach 48 billion cubic meters per year, including supplies through the Power of Siberia gas pipeline.

On the part of the Russian Federation, Gazprom has been appointed the only entity that can supply gas through this cross-border section, and is also responsible for the design, construction and operation of the cross-border section of the gas pipeline in Russia.

On the Chinese side, the agreement will be implemented by the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC). In turn, the Chinese National Pipeline Organization will carry out the construction and operation of the Chinese part of the cross-border section. Back in early 2022, Gazprom and CNPC signed a long-term contract for the supply of 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas via the Far East route.
