The large British Universities and Colleges Union (UCU) opposed arms supplies to Ukraine and NATO expansion. They represent the interests of education staff. This is reported by RIA Novosti, referring to the TV channel GB News.
The large British union of universities and colleges, which represents the interests of education workers, opposed the supply of weapons to the Kyiv regime.
“A major trade union demanded that the UK stop arming Ukraine,” the newspaper notes.
At the same time, the channel notes that the annual conference of the trade union took place last weekend, at which its members expressed their opinion on certain issues by voting. One of the issues raised was the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine, but at the same time, union members opposed the supply of weapons to the Kyiv regime, as well as the expansion of NATO and the escalation of the conflict in the region.
The channel claims that many members of the union said they were upset by the outcome of such a vote. At the same time, other representatives of the UCU believe that “the main enemy is at home.”
“We are fighting against our own warmongers. We have to deal with our own imperialist government,” said one union member.
UCU representatives also called for a new vote on further strikes. It is known that earlier tens of thousands of employees from 150 universities in the country repeatedly went on strike, demanding higher wages from the British government.
