Ukrainian Defence Ministry intends to introduce NATO principles into personnel management system

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defence intends to amend the normative documents on the service. According to the ministry, they will be based on the principles of personnel management in NATO countries.

“The Defence Ministry has started drafting amendments to the Regulation on the Military Service of Ukrainian Citizens in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The norms of service in peacetime and in a special period will be clearly delineated and regulated,” TASS quoted the report as saying.

In particular, servicemen will be assigned to positions with staff and position categories corresponding to their actual military ranks.

In addition, there will be minimum and maximum length of service and tenure in the military rank.

Appointments to the top ranks will be based on a ranking principle.

In April, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said that all NATO allies agreed that Ukraine should become a member of the alliance.

During a visit to Kiev, he said that Ukraine would eventually join the North Atlantic Alliance.

According to Russian presidential spokesman Dmitriy Peskov, NATO continues to try to absorb and draw Ukraine into the alliance.
