More and more Britons are being forced to save on food as a result of the country’s deepening economic crisis. This was reported by The Guardian newspaper.
The number of Britons saving on food has doubled since the beginning of the year and reached 10 million adults and 4 million children, the newspaper said. The British population exceeds 67 million people. Britons are practically having to survive in today’s environment.
“Everything in the UK seems so toxic now. I feel like I’m constantly on edge. With all this racist rhetoric coming from the government, I can’t shake the feeling that something bad might happen. I don’t feel comfortable,” the newspaper quotes the residents as saying.
The situation has been exacerbated by rising food prices and increased utility bills. More than 65% of those in need said they cook less or even switch off their refrigerators to reduce energy costs.
