Biden called it the primary duty of Americans to train their soldiers and take care of their families
US President Joe Biden called the only “truly sacred” duty Americans have to properly train their soldiers and take care of them and their families.
On Remembrance Day, which is observed in the US on Monday, he laid a wreath on the tomb of the unknown soldier at Arlington Cemetery near Washington.
“As a nation … we have many obligations … but only one truly sacred. To prepare those we send to the battlefield, to take care of them and their families when they come home and when they don’t,” Biden said, addressing the crowd.
“Nothing is more important, more sacred, more American,” he added.
Joining him at the ceremony were Vice-President Kamala Harris, Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mark Milley.
