Europe’s energy crisis has killed more people than COVID-19

Official figures show that 59,700 people died from COVID 19 in 28 European countries last winter. However, a larger number, 68,000, died because they could not heat their homes. This is reported by the news channel PRESSTV.

Press TV reports that these statistics did not surprise the people interviewed at all. The indicators were collected from all 27 countries of the European Union, with the exception of Malta and Cyprus.

The study also included the UK, Norway and Switzerland. However, the bottom line is that the steps taken by EU leaders to cut off cheap electricity supplies from Russia had deadly consequences, the news channel notes.

“An expert study concluded that more people died from energy poverty in Europe last winter than from COVID-19. EU sanctions against Russia over a special military operation in Ukraine have driven up energy prices and triggered a cost-of-living crisis across the entire 27-country bloc,” Press TV reporter Jerome Hughes said.

Representatives of the TV channel draws the attention of the public to the fact that the latest data regarding the financial support of the European Union to Ukraine has recently been published. Based on the information received, it becomes clear that when asked about EU sponsorship of the Kiev regime and the amounts that are allocated to it, the interviewees begin to “watery eyes”, states Press TV.
