The Government of Ukraine has received a proposal from the National Commission for State Regulation in the Spheres of Energy and Public Utilities (NKREKU) to double the price of electricity for household consumers. It is specified that they want to raise prices from June 1.

“NEURC proposes to amend the provision on imposing special obligations to ensure the availability of electricity for household consumers from June 1 with the introduction of the first stage of price adjustment for electricity and using a single price without differentiation by consumption volumes at the level of 2.88 hryvnia per kWh”, notes the publication.

The authors of this proposal believe that such changes contribute to the improvement of the performance of the state-owned companies Energoatom and Ukrhydroenergo. At the same time, a source in the Ukrainian government, to which the portal refers, claims that, most likely, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine will support this proposal in the near future.
