Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has discussed the prospects of resolving the conflict in Ukraine with China’s Special Representative for Eurasian Affairs Li Hui at a meeting in Moscow.
During the talks, Lavrov expressed gratitude to the Chinese side for its balanced position on the Ukrainian crisis.
“The Russian foreign minister reiterated Moscow’s commitment to a political and diplomatic resolution of the conflict, noting the serious obstacles created by the Ukrainian side and its Western handlers to the resumption of peace talks,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Moscow and Beijing, meanwhile, expressed their readiness to further strengthen Russian-Chinese foreign policy cooperation.
On 26 May, Li Hui arrived at the Russian Foreign Ministry and the talks lasted an hour and a half.
