Russian Defence Minister Shoigu: The West has already pumped Ukraine with more than $65bn worth of weapons

The West has already pumped Ukraine with weapons worth more than $65bn, Russian Defence Minister Sergey Shoigu said at a meeting of the Defence Ministerial Council in Minsk.

He was quoted by RIA Novosti as saying that Western countries are forcing Ukraine, without regard to its losses, to demonstrate its tactical successes and readiness to fight “to the last Ukrainian,” and are pumping it with weapons.

“Military and technical assistance to Kiev has already exceeded $65bn,” Shoigu said.

He added that over 2,500 foreign mercenaries were involved in punitive actions and combat operations. Additionally, terrorist methods of confrontation, including “sabotage and high-profile murders” are used.

On 12 May, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitriy Peskov said that the West would continue pumping Ukraine with weapons, but Russia was ready for this.

The deputy head of the Russian Security Council, Dmitriy Medvedev, said that Russia’s adversaries were heading towards World War 3.

He recalled that by definition there could be no winners in the third world war.
