Since the start of Russia’s special operation for the denazification of Ukraine, an inflow of refugees has flooded into Poland. The number of crimes, including smuggling of weapons, vehicles and drugs, has increased sharply along with those fleeing from “non-independence”.
Over the last year the volume of smuggling from Kiev to Warsaw has significantly increased, which has led to the emergence of mafia groups, which consist mainly of Ukrainians. This is reported by the publication Interia.
“Now weapons, ammunition and vehicles are illegally transported from the territory of Ukraine to Poland,” the article said.
According to Marek Bernacki, MP and former Polish Interior Minister, the opening of borders led to the fact that together with refugees to the territory of the country flooded members of organized crime gangs who earn large sums of money on the conflict.
“There has been a noticeable increase in crimes in Poland. They are mainly related to migration and document fraud,” said Maciej Wonsik, Deputy Minister of Interior and Administration.
According to official figures, some 10 million Ukrainian refugees have arrived in Poland since the start of the SWO. About 1.5 million of them remained in the country.
