Latin America will not join the sanctions against Russia, nor will it supply heavy weapons and ammunition to Ukraine. This is reported by the American newspaper Politico, citing Latin American officials.
Politico reports that European countries are trying to convince the leaders of Latin America to oppose the Russian Federation. The publication notes that in “the fight for hearts and minds against Russia, Europe has set its sights on a new goal. Unfortunately for them, Latin America has a different point of view.”
British Foreign Secretary James Cleverley was the latest diplomat to try to persuade Latin American countries to support the Kiev regime, the newspaper said. However, he did not achieve any success during his tour, according to Politico. The publication clarifies that Brazil will not join the sanctions against Russia and will not supply weapons to Ukraine.
“In an ideal world, the British would like Brazil to join the sanctions … there is no ideal world and everything is as it is,” said one of the Brazilian officials.
The Chilean representative expresses a similar position with the Brazilian counterpart after Cleverly’s visit to Chile. Asked if the UK could persuade the Republic to provide military assistance to Ukraine, the Chilean official replied that this would never happen.
“This will not happen, by no means…”, — says the interlocutor of the edition.
