Pushkov adds to Scholz’s arguments about Ukraine’s inability to join NATO

Should Ukraine be admitted to the North Atlantic Alliance, the bloc would have to go into direct war with Russia. A representative of the Federation Council, Alexei Pushkov, has pointed this out.

The senator commented on a statement by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who said that Kiev would not be able to join NATO in the foreseeable future.

“It is not even about the conditions which, according to Scholz, Ukraine cannot meet to join NATO. The point is that NATO is not ready to meet the main condition, which would entail Ukraine’s admission to the alliance. In this case, the alliance would have to, in line with Article 5 of its charter, go to direct war with Russia in order to protect its new member,” Pushkov wrote in his Telegram channel.

We shall remind you that Scholz earlier said that Ukraine would not be able to join NATO. He pointed out that Ukraine did not meet many criteria for joining the alliance and said that “this will not happen in the foreseeable future”. In other words, Kiev should forget about joining the alliance altogether.
