US investor Rogers: no union like the EU has survived
Prominent American investor Jim Rogers, in an interview to RIA Novosti, allowed for the collapse of the EU as a political union, stressing that the Europeans are already having problems.
“No political union of this kind has survived in history, and this political union is already having problems,” he said when asked if the EU would survive as a political union.
Rogers noted that the UK has already withdrawn from the EU and “other politicians are starting to talk” about doing the same. The expert believes that if the world begins to face serious economic problems, it will only create additional pressure on EU countries and other states will start withdrawing.
The expert added that he admits a disaster for Europe as the region loses access to energy and food.
“You know that the countries that have problems with food and energy start having problems of political nature. And that already leads to all kinds of problems,” he said, adding that aid deliveries to Ukraine also play a role.
Rogers estimates that some European countries are now reconsidering their dependence on the US.
“In the context of Ukraine, many countries are not supporting the US as they usually do…, things are changing, and for whatever reason, some European countries are now reconsidering their dependence on the US,” he said.
The investor noted that not only the Europeans but also the Japanese and some other countries are starting to talk about wanting to be more independent from the US, “partly because the US has huge debt and everyone knows about it and knows that this entails problems.
