“The launch of a military reconnaissance satellite by North Korea would violate several UN Security Council resolutions that prohibit all launches using ballistic missile technology. This illegal action will undermine peace and stability in the region,” the diplomat said during a briefing, as quoted by TASS.

The agency recalls that on May 16, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un led a committee to prepare for the launch of Pyongyang’s first reconnaissance satellite.

He also stated the strategic importance of the first military reconnaissance satellite to deter the United States.
