Politico: US preparing for likely freezing of Ukraine conflict for years to come

The US authorities are preparing for the Ukrainian conflict to be probably frozen for many years or even decades, Politico says. The newspaper notes that such an option is already being discussed in the administration of President Joe Biden, and it also envisages drawing borders that Moscow and Kiev would agree not to cross.

These borders would not necessarily be official, the paper says.

“Such discussions – albeit preliminary – have been taking place in various US agencies and in the White House,” the paper writes.

Such a scenario is becoming more and more likely amid a growing feeling in the US administration that the upcoming Ukrainian offensive “will not deal Russia a fatal blow”, the authors claim.
