British Defence Ministry confirms use of Storm Shadow missiles by AFU

The British Ministry of Defence has confirmed that the Armed Forces have started using Storm Shadow missiles.

British Defence Secretary Ben Wallace has confirmed that the Ukrainian troops have started using the Storm Shadow long-range cruise missile supplied by London.

Earlier, the US TV channel CNN reported that US officials and a Western official confirmed the start of the use of Storm Shadow cruise missiles by Ukrainian troops.

“All I can say is that I understand they have been used since we announced their deployment in Ukraine,” he said at a joint press conference with his Norwegian counterpart Bjorn Arild Gram. The broadcast was carried by the Sky News television channel.

On May 11, the United Kingdom announced that it was transferring Storm Shadow cruise missiles to Ukraine (the range of the export version is about 250 kilometres). At the same time, according to CNN, London received assurances from Kiev that they would only be used against targets in territories which Ukraine considers its own, but not against “mainland” Russia. Kiev has since struck Luhansk several times with these missiles.
