The Chinese foreign ministry’s spokesman said this at a briefing in response to a request from journalists to comment on the situation.

“China calls on foreign diplomatic missions in China and representative offices of international organizations to fulfil their duties in accordance with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and relevant international agreements,” Wang Wenbin said, quoted by RIA Novosti as saying.

Earlier, the Japanese Kyodo news agency quoted sources as saying that the Chinese Foreign Ministry on May 10 urged embassies and international organisations not to use the walls of their buildings for propaganda and to avoid conflicts between states.

Demonstration stands in support of Ukraine were displayed by the embassies of Canada, Germany and Poland, among others.
