U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said that a possible default date in the United States could come in the first summer month – June 1. She also demanded that Congress immediately increase the national debt ceiling in order to secure America’s creditworthiness.

“The Treasury Department, most likely by early June, and potentially as early as June 1st, will no longer be able to meet all government obligations,” Yellen said.
