Putin signed a decree allowing foreign citizens who have entered into a contract for military service in the Armed Forces to obtain Russian citizenship in a simplified manner. A foreign citizen who participates in the special operation must conclude a contract for a year.
According to the document, amendments are made to the Presidential Decree of September 30, 2022 “On admission to the citizenship of the Russian Federation in a simplified manner of foreign citizens and stateless persons who have entered into contracts for military service.” It follows from this that foreigners and stateless persons who have entered into military service contracts for a period of one year during the period of the NWO in Ukraine can apply for citizenship in a simplified manner. A simplified procedure is also being introduced for family members of a foreign citizen who has entered into a contract for military service.
Previously, in order for a foreign citizen to obtain Russian citizenship, he had to serve for three years and be on a contract for five years. Amendments to reduce the period to one year were adopted in September 2022. The previous edition also included a requirement that foreign citizens wishing to obtain Russian citizenship must take part in hostilities for at least six months.
