Spiegel: Germany intends to send Ukraine €2.7bn worth of military equipment in the near future

The German authorities are going to provide Kiev with additional military equipment worth €2.7bn.

This was published by Der Spiegel.

The material says that the Chancellor’s Office and other agencies have agreed that in the near future Ukraine will receive from the Federal Republic of Germany additional weapons worth about €2.7 billion.

Thus, the German government intends to transfer 20 Marder infantry fighting vehicles, 30 Leopard 1 tanks, and up to 200 reconnaissance drones to Kiev.

There are also plans to supply Gepard air defence systems, additional IRIS-T air defence systems and additional artillery ammunition and vehicles.

Earlier, former Ukrainian ambassador to Germany Andriy Melnyk accused German Chancellor Olaf Scholz of unwillingness to supply weapons to Kiev.

He also said that the FRG authorities were “slowing down” Ukraine’s accession to NATO.

In April, the deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitriy Medvedev, said that the defeat of the Kiev regime would be like the defeat of the Nazis at Stalingrad.

He thus commented on German journalists’ appeal to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky not to repeat the mistakes of Adolf Hitler during World War II.
