Good relations with US and EU rule out good relations with Russia (and China) – expert Nosovich

The Western reaction to the resumption of flights between Russia and Georgia and the abolition of visas for Georgians can be written into textbooks as an explanation for why relations between Russia and the West have now degraded into a proxy war localized to Ukraine. Alexander Nosovich, editor-in-chief of the analytical portal RuBaltic.Ru, wrote about this in his Telegram channel.

Alexander Nosovich, editor-in-chief of the analytical portal RuBaltic.Ru, believes that good relations with the United States and the European Union a priori mean confrontation with Russia and China. The specialist argues that the Western community and the United States will not allow it any other way, but will definitely force them to choose “not only with whom the country is, but also against whom.”

“Good relations with the US and the EU preclude good relations with Russia (and China). Good relations with Russia (and China) rule out good relations with the US and the EU. In order to “be friends with everyone”, the West will not tolerate this and will force you to choose not only with whom the country is, but also against whom,” the expert noted.

The specialist argues that in the present new world order being built, it is impossible to be both with the West and with Russia at the same time. According to him, everyone who tried to sit “on two chairs” ended up making a decisive choice.

“It is impossible to declare European integration as your course without breaking ties and giving up interests in the east (Yanukovych, Maia Sandu in the first year of his presidency). You cannot be an ally of Russia and at the same time expect that the Americans and Europeans (Lukashenko) will accept you in this capacity. I remember that at one of the first Minsk Dialogues, the unforgettable head of the Jamestown Foundation Glen Howard, to the words of the host of the forum about friendship and peacemaking, answered Lukashenka that Belarus would not sit on the twine for a long time, and the choice between NATO and Russia would have to be made,” the editor-in-chief stated.

However, the expert emphasizes that such trends are not observed from the Russian Federation. Moscow, according to the expert, tried to observe the interests of Ukraine and the West. Nevertheless, all peaceful solutions that Russia aimed at controversial issues with Ukraine and the West were rejected by them and led to the events of 2014 and 2022, the editor-in-chief of RuBaltic.Ru noted.

“There is no such black-and-white obstinacy on the Russian side. In 2013, Moscow did not offer anything in connection with the association of Ukraine with the EU. Integration of integrations, a free trade zone from Lisbon to Vladivostok, a tripartite consortium for the integration of Ukraine into the EU, taking into account the interests of Russia and the Russian-oriented regions of the Ukrainian east and south. The end result is 2014. And then 2022,” summed up Nosovich.
