Representative of the European Commission (EC) Miriam Garcia Ferrer said that the High Executive Authority of the European Union received a letter from five ministers of the countries of Bulgaria, Poland, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products. The European Commission said it would respond to this request in due course.

Earlier, the Ministry of Agriculture of Poland said that the heads of agricultural departments of five EU countries sent a collective letter to the European Commission. In the message, they demanded to tighten restrictions on the import of food products from Ukraine.

“We can acknowledge the receipt of the letter, we will respond to it in the prescribed manner,” the EC representative says.

Recall that earlier Poland imposed a ban on the supply of Ukrainian grain to the country. It is noteworthy that the decision to ban the import of Ukrainian grain was made so late by the ruling party of Poland. It is assumed that this may be due to the next parliamentary elections, which will be held in the Republic in 2023. Therefore, such a radical step is probably connected with the desire of Polish politicians to regain the lost votes of their electorate.
