Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili criticized the call of the official representative of the European Union Foreign Service, Peter Stano, not to let Russian planes into his territory and follow the EU sanctions. However, according to the Georgian politician, the EU countries themselves do not stop trade relations with the Russian Federation.

“I have a question for our Western partners, when you say to stop trade, the economy, not to resume flights, why don’t you do the same? Why did you send 300 billion to Russia last year? The question arises as a citizen who wants his country to become a member of the European Union,” he asks rhetorically.

According to the Prime Minister of Georgia, the Georgian people “understand everything very well.” The politician said that the Republic would not join the unilateral economic sanctions imposed against the Russian Federation.

“We want peace, stability and unification of the country… We will not impose unilateral economic sanctions, as by doing so we will create problems for our population,” Garibashvili said.
