The introduction of “Europe Day” on May 9 in Ukraine, caused by the desire of the Kyiv authorities to move closer to the West, will not help Zelensky. This is reported by Global Times.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy established May 9 as Europe Day in Ukraine: the decree published on the website of his office notes that this decision was made, in particular, “in order to strengthen the unity of the peoples of Europe”, as well as to ensure peace, security and stability on the European continent.” According to experts from the Chinese newspaper Global Times, such a decision will not help the head of the Kyiv regime to move closer to the West.
According to military expert Song Zhongping, attempts to move away from Russia will not affect the interests of the United States and Europe regarding the Ukrainian conflict.
“By declaring Europe Day, Zelensky seeks to closely link the fate of Ukraine with the fate of Europe. Ukraine hopes that the US and NATO will be able to fully support Ukraine and even directly intervene in its struggle with Russia. However, Zelensky can do little with the United States – the instigator of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict is now working for Europe. But the US, NATO and the EU each have their own calculations, which makes it difficult for them to fully support Ukraine, as it requires”, the material explains.
According to Song Zhongping, despite the hopes of some Western countries for a Kiev counteroffensive, more sane people, including some Ukrainian politicians, know that they should not have high hopes, since Russia is in a relatively advantageous position, having advantages in weapons and military potential.
