Dodon: Moldova and Russia must restore strategic partnership in all areas

Moldova and Russia should restore the strategic partnership in all areas, but such a step would not mean that Chisinau is against Europe. This was stated by the former Moldovan President Igor Dodon.

“I believe that a strategic partnership should be restored between Moldova and Russia in all areas. We signed a strategic partnership agreement back in the early 2000s, we also signed a partnership agreement with Turkey, with Hungary. That doesn’t mean we are against partnership with Europe,” he told reporters.

The republic has a rather large volume of trade with the EU, Dodon reminded.

“We are against the imposition of some values, for example LGBT marches, but, in general, we are friends with Europe and will continue to be friends,” the politician continued.

Earlier, Igor Dodon called on the current leader of the country, Maia Sandu, to resign before July in order to hold early elections in autumn.
