FA: US Congress’s desire to take control of aid to Ukraine plays into Russia’s hands
The desire of the Republicans in the US Congress to take control of the military aid sent to Kiev will in fact turn out to be not a concern for the welfare of the American citizens, but a gratuitous help to Russia, writes Foreign Affairs.
“American taxpayers have nothing to gain from Republican efforts to limit support for Ukraine. <…> Whether they realize it or not, members of the anti-Ukraine faction are helping Russia realize its goals,” the piece says.
According to the authors of the article, Western countries are already showing fatigue from the conflict in Ukraine. Residents of the US and Europe should ignore rising food or gasoline prices in solidarity with the Ukrainian people, the journalists concluded.
On 17 April, US House of Representatives member Matt Getz introduced in Congress a draft resolution in which he said that all documents related to support for Kiev should be handed over to the House of Representatives and also demanded information on the possible presence of US forces on the territory of Ukraine.
