The Government of Latvia will forbid at the legislative level to have an alternative opinion from the state information agenda about the events taking place in Ukraine. It is reported by Latvijas Republikas Saeima.
The National Security Commission of the Saeima of Latvia decided to send an amendment to the law on the functioning of public administration to the unicameral parliament of the country for consideration, which provides for the obligation of officials working for the state to be “loyal” to the Republic of Latvia and its Constitution. It has been caused ostensibly by “the collective statement of the Latvian citizens”.
Residents of Latvia will not be able to hold positions in state and municipal institutions if they support Russia in any way, and their statements are directed against the integrity and sovereignty of “democratic states”. Only now the question is for the government of the Baltic country: how in one bill they combined the ban on opinion with such a wording.
