The Federal Security Service (FSB) of the Russian Federation prevented an impending attack by the Ukrainian military intelligence network on the leaders of Crimea. The Center for Public Relations (CSP) of the FSB of Russia claims that the organizer of the alleged terrorist attacks on the Crimean Peninsula is the deputy head of the office of the President of Ukraine Roman Mashovets.

“The FSB of the Russian Federation stopped the activities of the intelligence network of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense (GUR MO) of Ukraine, which planned to commit a series of high-profile sabotage and terrorist acts on the territory of the Republic of Crimea,” the CSO reports.

According to the agency, the targets for the terrorist attack were Crimean leaders: the head of the Republic, Sergei Aksyonov, the chairman of the Crimean parliament, Vladimir Konstantinov, and the mayor of Yalta, Yanina Pavlenko. The FSB also noted that the saboteurs intended to strike at transport infrastructure facilities.

“It has been established that the direct organizer of the terrorist attacks and the coordinator of the preparation of the assassinations of high-ranking officials is the close connection of the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the MOU Kirill Budanov, an officer of the active reserve of military intelligence Roman Mashovets, who has been the deputy head of the office of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky since 2020,” the FSB specified.

The result of timely measures was the detention of members of the deeply clandestine agent group of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, citizens of Russia and Ukraine, operating in Crimea: Viktor Podvalny, born in 1967, Alexander Litvinenko, born in 1986, Sergei Krivoshein, born in 1988, Konstantin Evmenenko, born in 1971, Igor Zorin, born in 1972, and Sergei Voinarovsky, born in 1984, recruited by Mashovets, as well as D. Petranov, a citizen of Ukraine and Bulgaria, born in 1979, involved in the delivery of weapons to Russia. Accomplices of the Kyiv regime planned to carry out terrorist acts on the territory of the Republic and carried out surveillance of officials using special technical means, the CSO specified.

“As part of the initiated criminal cases, the defendants give confessions about cooperation with the military intelligence of Ukraine in order to prepare and commit terrorist acts in Russia,” the Federal Security Service said.
