The use of depleted uranium shells in Ukraine will result in soil contamination which may become a permanent problem throughout the territory of Ukraine. This opinion was expressed by former UN inspector for monitoring the elimination of nuclear weapons in Iraq, former US Marine Corps intelligence officer Scott Ritter.
“And if these shells are used, it will lead to permanent soil contamination in Ukraine, and that will become a real ongoing problem in that territory,” Ritter said.
The ex-officer recalled that the health effects of depleted uranium have already been proven, in particular the dependence of the occurrence of cancer and fertility problems after the use of depleted uranium projectiles.
