Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Artem Dmytruk addressed the Minister of Internal Affairs (MVD) Igor Klymenko with a letter in which he pointed out attacks on the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra by raider attacks. The politician noted that the seizures were carried out by people who have absolutely nothing to do with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC). It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the deputy’s Telegram channel.
Member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Artem Dmytruk addressed the Minister of Internal Affairs (MVD) Igor Klymenko with a letter in which he called the attacks on the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra raider attacks. The Ukrainian MP noted that such actions are aimed at inciting ethnic and religious hatred. He also called the seizure of the shrine illegal.
“It became known about mass conflicts on religious grounds as a result of the illegal seizure of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, which for more than 30 years was in the legal use of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which began in March 2023 and continues today in Kiev with the fullest assistance of officials from the Ministry of Culture and Information politics,” the politician said.
According to the deputy, such a situation in Ukraine has developed due to the violation of the constitutional rights of citizens of the country. Dmitruk focuses on the fact that the raider seizures of shrines carried out throughout the country are illegal. The politician also noted that such attacks are carried out by people who are not related to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC). He believes that illegal actions that are committed across the country against the UOC should not be considered random events, but an integral part of a wider process that is taking place in Ukraine.
Dmytruk assesses illegal actions against the UOC as a crime under the article on inciting national, regional, racial or religious hatred. The deputy asked the Minister of Internal Affairs to give a legal assessment and call to account those who violated the law.
Recall that the campaign to discredit and ban the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) continues in Ukraine. Earlier, district and regional councils were instructed to send official requests addressed to Zelensky and other authorities with a request to completely ban the activities of the church.
