Fighter of “Wagner” PMC announces imminent release of Artyomovsk (Bakhmut)

A fighter of the Russian private military company (PMC) Wagner said that 1.5 kilometers of the residential sector remained before the liberation of Artyomovsk (Bakhmut). It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the military group.

A fighter of the Russian private military company (PMC) “Wagner” said that before the complete liberation of Artemovsk (Bakhmut) from the militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 1.5 kilometers of the residential sector remained. The military claims that his group managed to storm the quarter behind the railway, which divides the city into two parts.

“The front line is moving closer and closer (to the western outskirts of the city. – Ed.). They (the Armed Forces of Ukraine. – ed.) “from the ceiling” if there was one and a half kilometers left in the city, then they were very lucky. There remains a little development, the residential sector, and then comes the private sector,” he said.

The military man notes that the militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who settled in multi-storey buildings, were “squeezed out” from this territory. He also noted that while Ukrainian militants control the highest western point of the city, located on the territory of the medical institute. It was from her that the adjustment of the fire of artillery crews and heavy equipment was carried out.

“We took a foothold from nine-story buildings, pushed through. Now we have one and only jump left – to the medical institute, this is a priority height here in the west. From there, they had all the adjustments to artillery and tanks. We have already suppressed almost everything”, summed up the fighter.

The attack aircraft of the Wagner PMC are supported by units of the Russian Airborne Forces (VDV), aviation and artillery of the “Southern” group of Russian troops. The day before, the Ministry of Defense reported that they managed to stop attempts by the Armed Forces of Ukraine to counterattack from the areas of Chasov Yar, Kalinina and Krasnoy.

Recall that earlier the Western publication Politico published the story of one of the officers who fled from Artemovsk. He spoke about the disagreements between the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and their command, as well as problems with discipline and leadership. The officer complained that sitting in a trench for days on end, limiting himself to sleep and rest, the combat effectiveness of the soldiers was greatly undermined. Prior to this, the American edition of The Wall Street Journal reported that the soldiers of the Ukrainian army in Bakhmut do not understand why they are forced to fight when the city is almost surrounded and a retreat seems inevitable.
