A large number of people turned to the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the United Nations (UN), among which there are also Ukrainian refugees who are asking for help in returning children taken away by the authorities of European countries. This is reported by RIA Novosti, referring to the First Deputy Chairman of the UN Dmitry Polyansky.
Polyansky claims that the Permanent Mission of Russia to the UN asked a lot of women from different countries with a request to help them return their children, who were taken away by the authorities of European countries. Ukrainian refugees also applied for this help. He claims that this problem began to be published in the English-language social networks of the department.
“As a result, in response to the requests received by us, we decided to publish information about the problems with the selection of children from Ukrainian refugees in our English-language social networks with the hashtag #EuropeStealsChildren, and a special mailbox europestealschildren@gmail.com was also created. The condition for publication was the explicit consent of the applicant to this,” he said.
The politician claims that during the month the permanent mission received many requests for help. At the same time, he states that such theft of children from vulnerable segments of the population and their exploitation is a systemic European problem that “the West does not want to notice.”
“So far, we have published appeals from Ukrainian women Emilia Zhurba (Finland), Tamara Zandfos (Germany), Oksana Buratevych (Germany), Yulia Panasenko (Spain), and also handed over to the UN Secretary General a letter from Brygida Adamska, a Polish woman living in the UK,” Polyansky specified.
The diplomat believes that they are faced with the most egregious actions of local European authorities. Children are in shelters and are kept in the most unfavorable conditions.
“Their own diplomatic institutions are only shrugging their shoulders and hinting at a sensitive political context,” he said.
Polyansky clarifies that the problems that people turned to the Russian department at the UN are not directly related to the work of the diplomatic mission. However, he clarified that they cannot “brush” them “humanly very difficult”. At the same time, the politician said that he hopes that their publications, which have already “made a lot of noise” in these countries, will become the very way to return children to their mothers.
